Head of Pipeline Discovery

We are looking for a Head of Pipeline Discovery to join our team. This leadership position represents an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to drive the discovery and development of category changing cancer therapies. This will involve leading an internal team and matrixed projects to progress Theolytics preclinical pipeline, from applying Theolytics Platform for novel oncolytic virus candidate identification to supporting CTA/IND enabling studies, establishing collaborations, and coordinating external stakeholders, to deliver strategic research and development goals.


  • Progress and expand Theolytics’ preclinical pipeline; 

  • Provide strategic direction to shape discovery projects in partnership with the CSO;

  • Lead and develop a team of multidisciplinary scientists to effectively deliver key company objectives;

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with external parties including clinicians to enable relevant patient sample access under ethical guidelines;

  • Collate and present research findings at both internal and external meetings; and

  • Contribute to a range of key strategic documents including: reports, presentations, patent applications and regulatory filings.

Candidate Profile


  • Has a PhD in Cancer Biology, Virology, Immunology or an alternative relevant discipline;

  • Has consistently delivered within a translational research setting;

  • Has high motivation for, and commitment to, research on anticancer therapies and drug discovery;

  • Has a track record of impactful research experience (e.g. peer reviewed publication, patents) and demonstrated scientific acumen;

  • Has a track record leading and developing teams with different experience levels and managing matrixed project;

  • Proactively takes on responsibility, empowers and motivates others; 

  • Effectively communicates with  diverse target audiences both within the company, and externally; 

  • Understands the human tumour microenvironment and keeps up to speed with developments in the immuno-oncology arena;  

  • Is aligned with Theolytics guiding principles - strives for openness in communication, for active learning and for achieving ambitious long term goals as a team.



  • Have pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry experience;

  • Understand the drug discovery and development process;

  • Are knowledgeable of HTA and ethical regulations for human sample handling and storage;

  • Have a track record of effectively establishing and managing external collaborations;

  • Upheld health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment; 

  • Have experience of multicolour flow cytometry, in vivo, molecular biology, virology and/or NGS techniques.
