• Experienced Lab Technician


    We are looking for an experienced Lab Technician to join our small, dynamic team. The successful applicant will be working with the company’s Chief Scientific Officer to execute experiments at the interface of cancer and virology. You will be working with primary cell cultures, applying virology and molecular biology techniques to deliver strategic research and development goals.


    This position represents an excellent opportunity for someone looking to support the development of an early stage product through to clinical application. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, happy to jump in when required in what will be an exciting working environment.


    • Execution of experiments, collating, analysing and presenting data from a variety of sources;
    • Maintenance of primary cell cultures;
    • Production and purification of adenoviruses;
    • Ensuring virus batch quality control;
    • Performance of assays for virus characterisation;
    • Supporting a team of scientists working with various human tumour models, to include the establishment and maintenance of quality sample archiving systems;
    • Day-to-day maintenance of the laboratory.

    Candidate Profile

    Required skills and experience include:

    • A BSc and/or MSc degree in a relevant discipline (such as Virology, Cancer Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology);
    • At least 2 years of experience as a research assistant/laboratory technician in a company and/or academic lab;
    • Recent experience in at least two of the following: cell culture, primary tumour culture, virology techniques (such as purification, plaque assays and TCID50), molecular and/or biochemical techniques (such as bacterial cell culture, cloning, PCR, ELISA and flow cytometry); and
    • Strong IT skills (including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and comfort using shared drives.

    Advantageous skills, experience and attributes include:

    • Experience working with primary cell cultures and processing patient tumor biopsies;
    • Experience working with oncolytic viruses and adenoviruses;
    • Experience following SOPs, and using assays;
    • Pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry experience (will put candidates at a significant advantage);
    • High motivation for, and commitment to, research on anticancer therapies and drug discovery;
    • Detail oriented and meticulous, with a dedication to performing high-quality science;
    • A willingness and propensity to take on responsibility.


    Compensation: £28,000 - 35,000 per annum

    Location: Oxford

    Contract: Full-time, fixed-term 12-month contract with the possibility of extension
